Makeup Advice For Moms On The Go

Being a busy mom myself (we have 3 boys), believe me… I know just how hectic and overwhelming things can get as a mother! But just because you’re a busy mom doesn’t mean that you have to stop wearing makeup and feeling pretty.

So many moms feel like they don’t have the time and/or energy to do things for themselves. We’re always putting everyone else first, rushing to get things done and get out the door. Well, there’s no reason you can’t have both! Today I’m going to give you wonderful mothers a few quick and easy ideas to help you be the best and most beautiful mom on the go!

OK, it’s all about being quick and easy, right? If it takes more than five minutes, then you can’t be bothered with it, right? Well, here are three things that help me feel like I look presentable when I’m in a huge rush.

  • Tinted moisturizer:

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… I love tinted moisturizer! It’s so easy to use, you literally just slap it on your face and blend! Using a tinted moisturizer eliminates the need to apply your regular day cream and your foundation, giving you a few more precious minutes.

  • One bronzer, two purposes:

I’ve also mentioned before about using a bronzer as your cheek color and your eyeshadow. Using a bronzer is a quick way to give your face a little color and help to define your eyes without having to mess around with multiple products. (You could also use your blush as eyeshadow as well.) You can even use a Q-tip for a quick application on your eyes if you don’t want to use brushes. Smudge it just on the lid, or in the crease of your eye, or use it as a soft, powder eyeshadow.

  • Lip service:

If there’s one thing that can make the biggest impact, it’s lip color. Whether you use a lipstick, lip gloss, lip tint, or lip stain, it doesn’t matter. Using a lip color will brighten you up and will help give you a finished look! I’m not sure why, but I never feel fully dressed until I have something on my lips. You can also use your lip color on your cheeks if you don’t have time for blush or bronzer. Just dot a little on the apples of your cheek and blend with your fingers.

Tip If you only have time to do one thing on your eyes, then let it be mascara. It will make the most difference bringing out your eyes and helping them stand out.

Alright, mama, there’s your face in five minutes or less! It’s so important to remember to take time for yourself! Not that I think you don’t look beautiful eau natural, but sometimes doing the smallest thing can make the biggest difference in how you feel about yourself… and when you feel good about you, so does everybody else!

Three Essentials for a Natural, No Makeup Look

“Natural” makeup. It seems a bit like an oxymoron doesn’t it? Well it is, in a way, but I think that makeup is a wonderful tool to help you look your absolute best… your own little secret. How does it go, “Maybe she’s born with it”?

Ultimately the point of wearing makeup is for people to notice you and how beautiful you are, not your makeup. It can help you bring out your best features and help disguise the ones you’re not so crazy about. I know this may sound strange coming from a glamour diva such as myself, but what I really want to get across is that makeup can be whatever you want and need it to be. It can be fun, and playfully dramatic, or so subtle that only you know it’s there.

Here’s what I mean: How many of you would go out of the house willingly without a stitch of makeup? I’m willing to wager not too many, including me! But on the other hand, you don’t need to put on a full face of makeup just to go to the grocery store or pick up the kids from school. If you’re looking for a more natural look with your makeup, here are a few products that will help you look your best, without anyone but you knowing:

  1. A light weight concealer

Not a cream, but a more fluid formula with either a wand applicator, or a concealer pen (like Dior Skinflash Radiance Booster PenMakeup Tips, Beauty Advice, and Cosmetic Reviews) because they are more lightweight and will be less noticeable. You can apply this under your eyes to hide any dark circles, and on your lids if they tend to be dark, as well as on any blemishes.

  2. Lip and cheek stain

This is a great alternative to your regular powder and cream blush because not only does it look natural, it has a very long wear. (It’s great to wear to the gym, or working out for this reason.) Don’t be afraid of how dark it looks in the bottle, they actually go on very sheer and blend in easily, and you may need to apply more than one time for it to show up. My favorite lip and cheek stain is Benetint by Benefit CosmeticsMakeup Tips, Beauty Advice, and Cosmetic Reviews. It looks deep red in the bottle, but goes on soft and pink.

  3. Mascara

You know I never leave the house without it! It’s such a great way to define the eyes without looking like you’re wearing makeup. To keep it natural, I would go with a formula like DÉFINICILS by LancomeMakeup Tips, Beauty Advice, and Cosmetic Reviews, or Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Flawless Definition Volumizing MascaraMakeup Tips, Beauty Advice, and Cosmetic Reviews. If you’re fair haired, you may want to go with a brown to keep it more natural. I also always like to curl my lashes. Not only does it make my staight lashes look longer, it opens up my eyes and makes them look bigger.

And that’s the basics, kids. You don’t need much for a natural makeup look, but a little help from some great products can go a long way. I’d love to know what are some of your secret beauty products? Please leave me a comment and let me know how you get that natural, no makeup look. Or maybe you don’t even bother and have an all or nothing attitude about your makeup. Either way, let me know!
