Silver makeup can help give you a sophisticated, sparkling, and beautiful look. It can add a lovely, icy shimmer to your face, and it instantly brightens your eyes. As with all metallic shades, you can wear a lot, or add just a hint for a fun and festive look for the holidays.
Here’s a look that I’ve come up with for wearing silver. My inspiration was the Dior 5-Colour Designer All-In-One Artistry Palette in Smoky Design:
I always like to tell women to start with an eyeshadow base. Then apply a white shimmer all over your eyelid and up to your brow. Make sure to blend it in really well so it doesn’t look too stark… all you want is a nice, soft shimmer. You can buff it down with your finger if it stands out too much. Next, apply a sheer, glittering silver on your lid and blend into your eye crease. If you want to keep this look minimal, you could add some black eyeliner and mascara and stop there. For a little more of a dramatic look, add a deeper, silvery gunmetal in the outer corner of your eye in a “V” shape and blend with the lighter silver. Now apply black eyeliner on the outer corner of your eye and blend it so you can’t see where it starts and stops. Then, take that gunmetal silver color and smudge it on top of the black eyeliner for a soft, smokey look and add the light, shimmery silver on the inner corner of your eye. Finish the eyes with at least two coats of mascara. (One eye at a time, please!)
Your cheek color should stay on the cool toned side with either a soft pink, of light plum. I think Elizabeth Arden’s Pink Star blush is the perfect color for this look.
For lip color on this look you could go one of two ways. You could go with a soft pink glossy lip with something like Bobbi Brown Shimmer Lip Gloss in Pink Sugar, or you could go with a strong red, or burgundy lip for a full dramatic effect. Chanel’s Rouge Allure Lipstick in Audace is a great universal red that anyone can wear get get really sexy lips.
Tip To really pop your eyes, add some silvery pewter shadow, or silvery white shadow on the inner corner of your eye. It will really open up your eyes making them look bigger while adding a little extra sparkle.
So there’s my holiday look ideas for silver! I hope you enjoy it and more importantly have fun when you where it. Remember to keep things in your comfort zone so you’ll feel confident, which to me is the whole point of wearing makeup. Making you feel good and helping you to be the best you you can be! Happy Holidays!
