If you’re a lip gloss lover like me, then you may have suffered the frustration of your lip gloss not lasting or staying on. Quality product can make make a difference… the higher end brands do use higher quality ingredients. But in my experience one of the key things to remember is that the stickier the gloss, the better it stays (and the longer it lasts) on your lips. If the lip gloss you use is too liquidy or slippery, it’s more likely to slip right off your lips.
Besides quality product, there are also a few other tricks you can use to get longer wear out of your gloss. In fact, the biggest secret to a long lasting lip gloss isn’t complicated at all: You just need to give the gloss something other then your lips to anchor to. Here are my top 3 tips for long lasting lip gloss:
I think this works the best (it’s also my favorite). All you have to do is fill in your entire lip with a nude lip liner and put the lip gloss on top. It’s important to fill in your entire lip because if you only line the outside then you’ll eventually wind up with just a ring around your lips as the gloss fades down. (So not sexy!) By filling in your whole lips the gloss will wear down evenly plus you get the added benefit of preventing the gloss from feathering and bleeding!
If you’re not a lip liner girl, then you can use lipstick to anchor your lip gloss. It can be any color you want, but I would go with one closer to your gloss. You can apply the lip gloss all over the lip stick, or put it just in the center of your bottom lip for a full, sexy pout.
My last suggestion is to apply your concealer all over your lips before your lip gloss, which will give the gloss a little something extra to anchor to. You don’t want to use too much concealer, just enough to go all over your lips and slightly outside your lip line. Make sure you blend and then apply your lip gloss on top.
I know these 3 makeup secrets are going to help give you the shiniest, sassiest, and glossiest lips ever… and that will ensure the lip gloss stays around long enough for you to enjoy it!
